How to estimate material for a project
A useful material estimate makes each assumption visible: measure the finished area, add the required depth, calculate the base volume and decide whether an allowance is justified by cuts, uneven excavation, compaction or supplier increments.
Before you buy
- Confirm whether the specified depth is loose, compacted or finished depth.
- Check the supplier’s selling unit and required rounding: bags, pallets, half-yards or truck loads.
- Use product-specific density and yield for weight, bag count and delivery planning.
