Volume first, density second
Area multiplied by depth gives volume. Estimated weight equals waste-adjusted volume multiplied by the density you enter. Keeping density editable prevents one generic material assumption from being presented as exact.
Example: 20 ft × 8 ft at 3 in deep is about 1.48 yd³ before waste. With 10%, order volume is about 1.63 yd³.
Important limitation
Bulk density changes with stone size, grading, moisture and compaction. Use the supplier’s density for ordering and never use this estimate to certify a vehicle or structural load.
